Dutch Bros- Copycat Grasshopper Iced Coffee

If you like mint and chocolate together you will loveee this coffee! Coffee is really a treat for me. I like it a little sweeter so I make it JUST the way I like it, and give up other ‘treats’ so I can enjoy my coffee with less guilt. I typically sleep pretty well, so I don’t usually ‘need’ coffee in the morning, coffee is just something I really enjoy!

If you are familiar with Dutch Bros, share with me either your go-to drink right now or your all-time fav drink from DB! I love trying new things! Also… I can’t believe Texas doesn’t have any Dutch Bros down here!! These people are missing out, big time!

My sweet husband knows my heart and splurged 2 Christmases ago and got me this amazing Breville Barista Express! You guys, it is a dream. If you love coffee or have thought about getting one too, use this link and #treatyourself, noimsayn’…

1) Coffee

I use a double shot of espresso for the copycat Grasshopper, but you can also use a drip coffee too! Just add one more tablespoon or so of grounds per your 12oz of water (for a stronger flavor), then either add extra ice or chill it for 20 minutes before making your iced coffee.

I also suggest using coffee that has a roast date on it (when the beans were roasted). Either get your beans from your local coffee shop and have them grind your beans, or if you have a grinder, be sure your beans were roasted in the last 2 ish weeks. The fresher the better! This part really matters! I get my beans from Blue Bottle Coffee! I have a bi-weekly subscription from them and have my coffee shipped right to my door! Use this link to recieve $10 off of your order of $20 or more!

2) Syrup

I LOVE Torani syrup. They are so consistent, rich and a great price for what you get!

I use two different syrups for this recipe. The recipe is below! You can get a three pack of vanilla syrup HERE (you save $5 on the three pack) on amazon! Otherwise use this link for just one Vanilla. As for the “chocolaty” part, I like the Torani Dark Chocolate Sauce. You can also get the three pack of Caramel, Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate and save $5!

3) Milk

I try to stay away from cows milk. It is just not meant for our bodies to digest the insane amount that people typically do. Just think about this… humans are THE ONLY mamals to drink milk after infancy. No other mamals drink milk after they are babies, especialy not from another species. They say cows milk is ‘good for strong bones’, but it’s ironic because cows milk has the LEAST amount of Vitamin D vs. 30 other milks often consumed that were tested in comparison to the Vitamin D in cows. Silly huh?

Anywhoooo! You can use cows milk, or Almond milk which is what I typically use!

The Mint

This is the part that makes the drink a ‘grasshopper’! I add one drop, sometimes 2, of Peppermint Young Living Essential Oil to my syrup and espresso after it’s pressed. Oil and water doesn’t mix, but it will mix perfectly if you stir it up with all your coffee and syrup, before adding it to the milk! Please do NOT use just any essential oil. Young Living specifically has a vitality line for ingesting! Not all essential oils are created equal, so be careful which brand you are purchasing.

Read more about why I chose Young Living and how to get your peppermint oil here.
